Ms. Kenealy's Class Trip
Ms. Kenealy's Fourth class were invited Malahide library to hear children's author, Alan Nolan speak about his book, The Grand Central Cinema Club. Here is an account of the trip, written by Jack Jordan and Zack Hayes from that class:
On the 3rd of March 2026 Ms. Kenealy’s 4th class went to Malahide Library to see the Irish author Alan Nolan. 4th class took the 102 bus to Malahide Library to talk to Alan Nolan about his newest book. The Grand Central Cinema Club! The book is released in all good book shops in Ireland such as Easons, Chapters, Public Libraries Etc. Alan Nolan is a really funny author repetitively saying Slay Queen and Six-Seven. Alan Nolan also showed us some of his other books such as The Irish Yeti. There is a sequel to The Grand Central Cinema Club which we are all excited for! It is coming out in September 2026. The book is based in Summer 1937 in Dublin City with the Five main characters, Bren-Bren, Juno, Jem, Mario and Sylvie.
When we were in Malahide Library with Alan Nolan, we also drew The Irish Yeti with him, he signed our books and we kept his Irish Yeti drawing. As a little spoiler we’ll tell you the blurb. When Sylvie meets tenement boy Jem and his daredevil sister Juno, they bond over their love of movies. But an accident means Juno will miss the latest film at the Grand Central Cinema, so they hatch a plot to hijack the movie reel and do a top secret private showing instead! Meanwhile a sneak thief called ‘The Magpie’ has his eye on the Grand Central Cinema too. Can Sylvie and Jem revive Juno’s ailing spirits by bringing the movies to her? And will they foil The Magpie’s feather brained plan in time?
We really enjoyed it and had an awesome time!
