Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026

20th Mar 2026

Bhí alán craic agus spraoi againn sa scoil an seachtain seo chaite. Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026 a bhí ann. Ghlac gach páiste agus múinteoir pairt sna cursaí a bhi eagraithe don seachtain agus rinne siad iarracht a gcuid gaeilge a úsáid.

Ms. Hunter and Ms. Whelan did a great job of organising the events of the week which included a Tóraíocht Taisce (treasure hunt), Drámaíocht (drama group), Ceolchoirm (concert), Tráth na gCeist (quiz) agus Mórshiúil Naomh Mearnóg (parade).

At the concert on Wednesday, each class band performed their Seachtain na Gaeilge song. Then Mr. Maughan and Mr. Watkins played a few jigs and reels and sang a few songs. The children that attend the local Naomh Mearnóg Comhaltas also played a few tunes accompanied by Ms. Dillon. Then the Irish dancers performed in twos or threes. It was a great show.

On Friday, all classes gathered outside the school, dressed in their St. Patrick’s regalia to hear the bag piper play the national anthem. After that, we had a visitor, St. Patrick who did the rounds high-fiving the children!

The children also really enjoyed the quiz and the treasure hunt which really tested their knowledge of Gaeilge.
