December Round Up

19th Dec 2023

We celebrated Friendship Week in school and brainstormed what a good friend is.  We made lovely ‘Be the ‘I’ in Kind’ posters too so we could remind ourselves that we need to be kind to be a good friend to everyone else, even ourselves.

The boys and girls in room 13 have been as busy as elves in the run up to Christmas!  Have a look at some of the beautiful art and crafts that we’ve made.  The class was challenged to make a decoration using only recycled materials for our Christmas Tree – well done to all to made our tree look festive.

Ms. O’Dowd’s class got a history lesson from Mark and Dylan.  Dylan brought in the Síocháin Magazine which told the story of how Dylan’s and Mark’s great grandfathers were in the same class when they were training to be Civic Guards (now An Garda Síochana).  They were both from Donegal and both had the same surname!  This all happened just over 100 years ago.  Little did they think that their great grandsons would be in the same class in St. Marnock’s N.S.

Santa made a flying visit to St. Marnock’s in the lead up to Christmas.  There was a lot of excitement as we waited for him and his trusty reindeer to drive around the school…  Santa visited our class and we sang Bualadh Bos for him – he was very impressed mar is aoibhinn leis Gaeilge!
